About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Which of us is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?"
Jesus called a small child over to him and put the child among them. Then he said, "I assure you, unless you turn from your sins and become as little children, you will never get into the Kingdom
of Heaven.
Therefore, anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the
greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

* A SPECIAL NOTE:
It is common among most of us, in our society today, to be highly offended at
being called "servants" or "slaves" or for it to be said that we have "masters". We strongly resent and rebel against
this inference with strong emotions of great anger, feeling it lowers and demeans us, that we would be ill treated, a door
mat for those "masters" to wipe their feet on. And more especially so when those "masters" we be the "servants or slaves"
of might be those we are employed by. But when reading the scriptures using these terms we need to first have a humble
and obedient "servant or slave" heart before God, and then take a long, hard look at our misunderstanding of this inaccurate
feeling. A study of history shows that since the beginning of time there have been servants and slaves. In many societies,
including that of biblical times, to be a servant or slave is often a treasured, sought after position that is envied by others
because it often gives a higher degree of living in luxuries, education and travel that would not have been possible in the
levels born into. Even today, all over the world, many seek employment as servants because they will be live in a lifestyle
that would not be enjoyed by them in any any other "job" they can aspire to. It all depends on the "who" you are subjecting
your self to as a servant or slave. To be the servant or slave to a decent, not cruel master can be much much more desirable
than never knowing anything but what we are born into or can gain on our own. And so it is with Jesus and the biblical concepts
expressed in many scriptures and some here. As God says of Jesus "Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom
my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles." - Matthew:12:18: And
to all who call Jesus Savior and Lord: "If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant
be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. - John:12:26:
So now let us contemplate the absolute supreme glory
of being a "Servant" or "Slave"!
"And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants,
and ye that fear him, both small and great." Revelation:19:5:
AMEN!

VERSE: Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.-- Romans 12:12
THOUGHT:Sometimes the key to survival is simply "setting our jaw" and going on, faithfully trusting that God
is there helping us, despite the apparent and outward circumstances. Choosing joy through hope rather than despair, choosing
patient endurance in times of affliction, and choosing faithfulness in prayer are all decisions of the will, trusting that
the God who raised Jesus from the dead can also change our circumstances because he hears our voice.
PRAYER: Create in me, O Mighty God, a resolute and steadfast heart so that I might persevere with joy no matter what the
difficulty. This I ask in the name of your faithful Son. Amen
======
VERSE: I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times
of trouble. -- Psalm 59:16
THOUGHT: So many things in our lives can be stolen away by natural disasters, aging, and death. Satan could be appropriately
called "The Thief of Always." But God is immovable and "unstealable"! We can invest ourselves in him and
know our spirits are secure. He is a fortress and a refuge.
PRAYER: O Great Rock of my salvation, thank you for being unchangeable and faithful. Thank you for being the source of
security and future in a day of chaos and change. Thank you for being God. You are my God and in you I place my life, my hopes,
and my future. May you be glorified in me today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

VERSE: Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. -- James 4:8
THOUGHT: Humble yourselves. That sounds obscene. At least to the "get ahead at all cost" and "don't look
back - the competition is gaining on you" culture of self-promotion, it sounds obscene. Humility is a forgotten virtue.
Often confused with weakness or timidity, humility is about knowing our proper place in the world without flaunting it. Only
God can exalt in a permanent way, so the key is to know our place before him and let him put us in the place he chooses to
honor him.
PRAYER: Abba Father, Most Holy God, thank you for allowing me into your presence. When I think of all that you have done,
the incredible universe you have made and hold together by your word, I am amazed you invite me into your presence. I am amazed
that you even care about my choice of words. Thank you for knowing me and having a plan for my life. Help me this day to live
with humility and grace before others as I seek to glorify you in all things. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

VERSE: God has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and
to walk humbly with your God. -- Micah 6:8
THOUGHT: God's desires for us are not hard to discern. He wants to bless us with salvation. The gift of his Son is powerful
testimony to this truth. But salvation from sin and death is not something he wants to happen in our lives just once. He wants
our lives to daily reflect his salvation and to share it with others. When we act justly, pursue mercy in our relationships,
and honor him with our worship from a humble heart, then we are responding to his salvation as he desires.
PRAYER: Almighty and compassionate Father, help my eyes see what your heart sees. Teach me to hate sin and to be merciful
to all who need mercy. Teach me to know truth and act fairly, while hating abuse and exploitation. Through your Spirit, stir
me to reflect on the great distance between your holy majesty and my inconsistent character. Make me wholly your child, I
pray, in Jesus name. Amen.

Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat
well, drink a good glass of wine, and enjoy their work-whatever they do under the sun-for however long God lets them live.
And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot
in life-that is indeed a gift from God. People who do this rarely look with sorrow on the past, for God has given them reasons
for joy. --Ecclesiastes 18-20 NLT
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them
that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; ~ Matthew:5:44:
Lu:6:28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Ro:12:14: Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. ~ James 5: 16
Judge not according
to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. ~ John:7:24:
'Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth
concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven.'(Matt. 18:19) And this is the confidence
that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever
we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. ~ 1John:5:14-15
Jas:1:12: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown
of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Jas:1:25: But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a
forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Jas:1:26: If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his
own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Jas:3:16: For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Jas:3:17: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated,
full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Ephesians:6:5: Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness
of your heart, as unto Christ;
Eph:6:6: Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
Eph:6:7: With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
Eph:6:8: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or
free.
Eph:6:9: And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven;
neither is there respect of persons with him.
NASB Translation:
Eph 6:5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity
of your heart, as to Christ;
Eph 6:6 not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
Eph 6:7 With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
Eph 6:8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.
Eph 6:9 And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is
in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
Colosians 3:17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God
the Father.
Col:3:22: Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in
singleness of heart, fearing God:
Col:3:23: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Col:3:24: Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Col:3:25: But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
AN INTERESTING Simplified VERSION FROM NLT:
22 You slaves must obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they
are watching you. Obey them willingly because of your reverent fear of the Lord. 23 Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you
do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance
as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ. 25 But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong
you have done. For God has no favorites who can get away with evil.
Col:4:1: Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
1Timothy:6:1: Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of
God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
1Tm:6:2: And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them
service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
Titus:2:9: Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering
again;
1Pe:2:18: Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against
all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil
rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked
spirits in the heavenly realms.
